| Gozo (in Maltese Ghawdex) also known as the Isle of Calypso, lies 6.4 km to the north - west of Malta with an area of 67 sq.km. Gozo is linked to Malta either by a ferry, or by a helicopter service. | |

Gozo has a character quite distinct from that of Malta. The countryside is greener and more spectacular. Flat-topped hills characterize the landscape whilst the coast has rugged cliffs, penetrated by steep valleys and beautiful bays. |

| Gozo has a population of about 30,000 and its capital city is Victoria, popularly known as Rabat. The main harbour is at Mgarr where there are yacht mooring facilities. The helicopter landing pad is found at Ghajnsielem. | |

Here are the main Government's departments, the bus terminus, the principal
branches of the local banks, a daily market place, the best shopping centre,
and other facilities.
The Citadel or "Gran Castello"
has an imposing cathedral and is surrounded by impressive high walls.
Inside these walls there are the remains of old buildings and museums,
including the folk museum, archaeological museums, and the Cathedral Museum.
From on top of the bastion walls one can see an impressive panorama of
the whole island. |

It-Tokk is the main square
of the town and site of the daily open market. The square is lined with
trees and at the far end there is the Banca Giuratale built by Grand Master
de Vilhena in 1733.
